A Year of Joyful Moments and Lasting Memories

As we welcome the new year, we at Central Oregon Collective are feeling so much gratitude for the incredible moments we’ve shared with our community. From exciting outdoor adventures to cozy, laughter-filled gatherings, this year has been all about connection, inclusion, and joy.

Exploring, Creating, and Celebrating in Central Oregon

This past year, our adventures took us on some unforgettable trips, with the Oregon Coast standing out as a personal favorite for many of our clients. The fresh ocean air, the sound of waves, and the smiles shared on the beach created memories that will last a lifetime.

from skiing at Mt. Bachelor to soaking up the sunshine at Smith Rock and wandering along some of Central Oregon’s stunning trails. Exploring the natural beauty that surrounds us has brought endless joy and inspiration to our clients and team alike.

One of the highlights of the year was visiting the Fire Station here in Bend. A huge thank you to the incredible team who welcomed us so warmly, showed us around, and spent time hanging out—it was such a special experience that left a lasting impression on us all.

These moments remind us why we’re so passionate about what we do—creating opportunities for adults with intellectual and developmental disabilities to thrive, laugh, and feel connected. Whether it’s sharing a warm hug after an exciting trip, hearing the laughter of friends during an activity, or simply being present together, these experiences inspire us every day.

Stories That Inspire Us Every Day

At Central Oregon Collective, our clients are at the heart of everything we do. Their strength, humor, and spirit make every day brighter. As Roberta’s testimony below beautifully reflects, we are so proud to help create these moments of connection and joy that make our community stronger.

Gary's journey with Central Oregon Collective has been transformative. Supported by a dedicated team, he's achieved a healthy lifestyle and discovered the joys of community activities—from movie nights to visits to the zoo. His improved communication skills and newfound friendships have enriched his life, giving him the independence and happiness every individual deserves. 💚 We're beyond grateful for the life-changing support he receives. - ROBERTA , GARY ’S MOM
“I met Scott and the Central Oregon Collective in 2018. I had been through two adult foster homes before then. The first one took us on outings and the like, but they ran the home based only on their values. Mine did not interest them. After four years they asked me to leave because I expressed my views and preferences, which they did not approve of. I had become very suicidal, and they wanted nothing to do with me. The next home lasted less than a year. I did not feel safe and ran away several times. While on an outing with another organization, the staff took me to meet Scott. I shared my background and predicament. Scott said he had met many people whose file described them as having “problem behaviors” when it was clear that they were just not being heard or supported on their terms. Within weeks I moved into a COC home, where I have been for almost six years now. I have a cat, I can go where I want, have my own room set up with my computer. The Collective is all about making sure that my world is as big as I want it to be. Life is really looking up!" - Jedidiah, Client at The Collective.

Looking Ahead: Our Vision for 2025

As we step into 2025, we’re dreaming big for Central Oregon. This region, with its stunning landscapes and tight-knit communities, deserves to be a place where everyone feels welcome and included.

Here’s how we’re planning to grow and make an even bigger impact:

  • Expanding Services: Supporting even more Central Oregonians with intellectual and developmental disabilities. Our goal is to reach 120 more individuals across Deschutes, Jefferson, and Crook counties.
  • Affordable Housing Initiatives: We’re making strides toward building a 90-110 unit apartment complex with ADA-compliant, affordable housing.
  • Improving Accessibility: Adding wheelchair-equipped vehicles to our fleet so everyone can explore and enjoy all the amazing experiences Central Oregon has to offer.
  • Growing Group Homes: We’re working to open one to two new group homes annually, providing safe, supportive spaces for our clients.
  • Focusing on Wellness and Community Inclusion: Whether it’s helping clients attend events, learn new skills, or connect with their neighbors, we’re committed to fostering independence and joy.
